Video games may soon be the new tool in teaching. In fact, I think that as reading specialists we can incorporate video games into our teaching. Why? Video games can provide lessons in critical thinking and problem solving; 21st Century students are growing up in an electronic world and they respond and easily relate to video game type educational programming. The interactivity of videoconferencing is even reaching students in their homes, through what else.... their video games!! Naruto is a highly skilled interactive game, students who can barely read a first grade sentence, read complex technical terms involving biographies, geneologies and world history. I wonder if I am so ‘bright’ why can’t I get past the first few seconds?
Hi,Amia, you have piqued my curiosity concerning Naruto games. I have never heard about it. Video games as a new learning tool?Hmm. Well, I would have to warm up to the idea as I am not very familiare with video games. This course is just revealing to me how much I have to be willing to learn, the operative word there is willing. As teachers, it is time for us to be very flexible when it comes to incorporating technology and overcoming our inhibitions. The reality is that this may be one of the most effective ways to reach our children. That thought should inspire us to learn as much as we can. So you must tell me more about this Naruto. No, I guess I can now do my own research on the net :)
